Auto Dimming Mirror Wiring Diagram
I am having no luck locating wiring diagrams for whats already behind the mirror or the overhead console. I have a 98 e430 and my car originally had auto dim mirrors but i had to replace the inner mirror housing on my car and the new mirror housing only has a 2 pin connector for the mirror instead of a 4 pin connector that was on my original mirror housing.

This is a 5 pin connector (there are 10 and 7 and others out there), and i think the 533 designator is for toyota oem.
Auto dimming mirror wiring diagram. 1 empty (need to add gray wire) 2 empty 3 empty 4 empty 5 gray w/ black stripe 6 empty 7 empty 8 black 9 *light green 10 empty 11 dark green w/ white stripe 12 light green w/ black stripe 13 *yellow 14 yellow w/ black stripe 15 brown w/white stripe 16 *red w/ black stripe the asterisks represent the additional wires. Light green wire = switched power (attach your red wire using a wire tap to this wire) black stripe/white wire = ground (attach your black wire using a wire tap to this wire) note: Turn the ignition switch on/acc position.
I am installing an auto dimming rear view mirror. The power must turn off when the ignition is in the off. I installed it according to peaty's directions on scoobymods and the lights work but the compass and auto dim only works when i shift into reverse.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram and/or pin out for auto dimming side mirrors? There are 5 wires coming out of the mirror. The wire diagrams i grabbed for my '09 have nothing about a dimming mirror with the compass.
Since the car isnt pre wired for this unit, i need complete instructions to power the mirror so that it. Under the roof lining is no suitable connector. From my 07 wiring diagram (not exactly the same but perhaps a guide).

Since kj mirrors are not capable of dimming, never spliced those wires up into anything. The mirror has a connector with 5 pins: Make sure you use the light green wire!
Consequently the only wiring we are interested in is the 12v supply and the ground. I don't know where to connect the wire for the reverse gear information. Three wires to the harness plug, ground, 12v (acc) and 12v.
Wt’s do not come with an auto dimming mirror but the hd video mirror has a dimming sensor on the back of the mirror for the mirror and it ties into the auto dimming drivers side mirror if you have it (which wt’s do not). I got my auto dimming/compass mirror today but there's a problem. The jag stype 2001 of mine came with a manual rear view mirror without the rain sensing unit.*.
That just disables the dimming feature when backing up. The black mirror wire connects to the gray w/black strip volt wire (ground). I have pictures to post.
If mirror remains on at all times, it could eventually drain the car's battery. These are the red wire and black wire respectively. I figure black = ground, yellow = constant power, white = switched power.
Here are the wire colors if this helps: I am trying to install it on my 1989 aerostar. 3) then i will add another wire and connector in the reverse area hole of the mirror plug.
Also never did anything with pin 3; The wire colors on this are. Can anyone provide me what each of the 5 wires are for?
I have recently replaced the manual mirror with a 2002 stype auto dimming mirror with the compass.*. There are a few different mounting systems used by oem manufacturers. Pins 4 & 5 are supposed to go to side mirrors that are also capable of auto dimming, to dim them when the rearview mirror dims.
I'am not sure if i will destroy the mirror when i connect the white / light green wire at the gearshift. I bought the automatic dimming mirror with compass from a 2007 s197 and have installed it at my 2006 mustang.
